IMG ARENA Breaks Records with US Open Streaming Figures
IMG ARENA helped its customers serve a major boost in US Open coverage with record streaming figures at the 2019 tournament.
The total views of our official US Open content stood at 46.6 million, an increase of 54% from 30.2 million in 2018, continuing impressive year-on-year growth, having recorded 18.9 million views in 2017.
A total 2.28 million unique viewers registered demonstrates how the appeal of tennis betting continues to broaden, representing a 15% advance on 2018 (1.99 million) and 69% on 2017 (1.35 million).
The three most-watched matches each attracted more than 1 million views, pooling above 5 million in total.
Daniil Medvedev’s epic, five-set defeat in the final against Rafael Nadal attracted 1.48 million views, followed by the quarter-finals between Matteo Berrettini’s and Gael Monfils (1.39 million) and Stan Wawrinka and Medvedev (1.17 million).
This year’s event, where Nadal landed his 19th Major title and fourth US Open, saw the entrenchment of a shift in consumer behaviour to mobile consumption, which accounted for a clear majority of the content views.
A 63% boost in mobile views from 18.11 million to 29.52 million firmly established it as the preferred mode of content delivery and receipt.
IMG ARENA also provides its customers with authorised data, which is entered directly from the umpire’s chair, meaning real-time, official, point-by-point data goes from court to fan in less than one second. There were 47,388 points played and 764 sets of tennis throughout the singles competitions and IMG ARENA’s Fastpath data feeds provided a plethora of opportunities for in-play betting and engagement.
